Junior executive positions open

A Junior Executive is a first year music student who is part of a team of Executive Members. This team of student volunteers works together to run the Music Undergraduate Society (MUS). The MUS is currently looking for two students to fill these roles for the 2026/2027 academic year.
What is the role of a Junior Executive?
As a Junior Executive, your role would be in assisting other Executive Members with various tasks, as well as contributing your own skills and ideas to help grow and run our club.
At the end of the academic year, you will be familar with each different role in the club, and hopefully ready to take one on yourself for the following year.
Who is the ideal candidate?
We have two Junior Executive positions open. Candidates should be first year undergraduate students in either the BMus or BA Music program. Having an interest in contributing to a healthy community for music students, as well as a willingness to learn and contribute your own skills are ideal qualities.
All Executive Members must be able to commit to bi-weekly meetings, 1-2 noon hour recitals per week, and occasional afternoon/evening events.
We strive to create a supportive, inspiring space for music students.
Whether you are a frequent performer in recital hour, enjoy the snacks at our events, or take the occassional nap on the office couch, the MUS is your community. Keep up with our website to explore our upcoming events, freqently asked questions, and learn more about what we do.

What does the MUS do?
The MUS is responsible for creating connection and support among students in the music program at the University of Calgary. We run social events for students, manage regular recitals on campus, connect with community members, and more. Our club is constantly changing and growing, and we are supported by the School of Creative and Performing Arts.
How can I access paid and volunteer opportunities?
When filling out your membership form, you may select whether you would like to be notified about opportunities. Our executive member in charge of external affairs will add you to the mailing list, and you will be emailed information pertaining to opportunities.
Is there a membership fee?
The MUS offers yearly membership to students from September-April. An $8 “Early bird” membership can be purchased through the month of September, and memberships purchased in the following months are $10.
